NO. R-225. JOINT RESOLUTION HONORING MARK AND GAIL HORNE FOR BEING CHOSEN "GROCERS OF THE YEAR".

Whereas the Horne family has owned and operated the Keelers Bay Variety in South Hero since 1974, and

Whereas, Mark and Gail Horne have raised four children, each of whom had the opportunity to work in the family business, and

Whereas, the store has been expanded and renovated to better serve their customers, including the addition of seafood, deli and expanded coffee bar, and

Whereas, the Horne family and employees have contributed to the welfare and betterment of their community as a major part of the Keelers Bay way of doing business, including generous supporters of community events and charitable fundraisers such as South Hero Volunteer Rescue and Fire Departments, the Grand Isle Rotary, the United Way of Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, local schools and churches, Lake Champlain Island Chamber of Commerce, Vermont Grocers scholarship program and volunteering at the Flynn Theater, and

Whereas, the Horne family was chosen "Grocers of the Year" for 1999, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly gives due recognition to the Vermont Grocers' Association's "Grocer of the Year," Mark and Gail Horne, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Mark and Gail Horne of South Hero, Vermont.
