NO. R-199. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE WINDSOR HIGH SCHOOL YELLOW JACKETS 1999 DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL TEAM.

(J.R.H. 159)

Offered by: Representatives Sweaney of Windsor and Dunne of Hartland.

Whereas, the Windsor High School Football Yellow Jackets, and their Division III title game opponents from Mill River High School, each averaged 28 points per game as the two squads faced each other at the opening kick-off of their 1999 championship game at the Hartford High School football field, and

Whereas, it became readily apparent that the teams were as evenly matched defensively, as offensively, playing to a pointless tie with a mere three minutes and 40 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, and

Whereas, the alert Windsor team was hardly fooled when Mill River, on a critical fourth down play, pretended to punt the ball, and the Yellow Jackets successfully foiled the intended offensive drive, and

Whereas, seizing a golden opportunity, Windsor quarterback Tad Davis threw a critical pass to running back Randy Shambo and ultimately, from the ten yard line, the agile quarterback successfully kicked the second field goal of his high school career, clinching the hard-earned 1999 Division III Football Championship for Windsor High School, and

Whereas, their teammates K. J. Dimick, Ryan Hingston, Matt Holden, Mark Gilbert, Chris LaGrow, Kenny White, Derek Miles, Mike Vivian, Nick Purcell, Chris Shambo, Josh Neily, Chris Gilbert, Luke Lemery, Matt Cutts, Rick Jones, Paul Reynolds, Jason Welch, Jerimiah Januszewski, Doug Micka, Kevin Welch, David Senecal, Josh Taft, David Bigley, Tim Lane, Tim Penn, Todd Davis, Matt Hebert, Bryan Tenney, Tom Cochran, Eric Osterlund, Shawn Hunt, Justin Blaise, Paul Holloway, Mike Walker, Jamie Tenney, Erickh Schaefer and Justin Temple merit three cheers for a job well done, and

Whereas, these fine young athletes magnificent football season was under the superb direction of first-year Head Coach Jim Taft whose leadership was ably supplemented by assistant coaches David Boisvert, Chris Childs and Joe Putnam, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
