NO. R-149. JOINT RESOLUTION HONORING VERMONT'S ILLUSTRIOUS MUNICIPAL CLERKS DURING MUNICIPAL CLERKS WEEK.
Offered by: Representatives Barbieri of Wallingford, LaBarge of Grand Isle and Smith of Sudbury.
Whereas, the office of municipal clerk is a time honored and vital part of local government and exists in municipalities throughout the world, and
Whereas, the office of municipal clerk provides the professional link between citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels, and
Whereas, municipal clerks have pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality and impartiality, rendering equal service to all, and
Whereas, the municipal clerk serves as the information center on functions of local government and community, and
Whereas, municipal clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the affairs of the office of the municipal clerk through participation in education programs, seminars, workshops and the annual meetings of their county, state, provincial and international professional organizations, and
Whereas, during municipal clerks week it is a most appropriate time to honor Vermont's municipal clerks who are the true heroes of local government, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly recognizes the outstanding accomplishments, and contributions to local government, of Vermont's municipal clerks, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Dencie L. Mitchell, Town Clerk and Treasurer of Grand Isle, the Vermont League of Cities and Towns and the Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Association.
