NO. R-52. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE ESSEX HIGH SCHOOL HORNETS CHEERLEADERS ON WINNING THE 1999 DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, cheerleading at Essex High School has evolved into a fine art, and

Whereas, the Essex High School Hornets have amassed an unsurpassed record of leading the state in every aspect of cheerleading, and

Whereas, on January 30, 1999, the Essex Hornets earned their eighth consecutive Division I championship as they accumulated an astounding 176 out of a possible 180 points, and

Whereas, over the last 14 years they have won 12 divisional titles, and

Whereas, this year's magnificent Hornet squad includes Aubrey Ann Doney, Megan Vezina, Liz Keenan, Lindsay Going, Carrie Corbin, Katonja Steinhour, Emily Keenan, Jessika Folden, Kate Spinner, Kristine Beaudry, Candace Brownell, Erica Gawrys, Liz Abrams, Scott Lawless, Aubrey Bosman and Sarah Slocum under the expert direction of coach Lissa McDonald, and

Whereas, these outstanding young athletes will soon be featured on a New England Sports Network segment, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly is delighted to congratulate the Essex Hornets Cheerleaders on the occasion of their winning an eighth consecutive Division I Championship, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to coach Lissa McDonald at Essex High School.
