NO. R-51. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING NICOLE LEWIS ON WINNING THE 1999 MISS VERMONT TITLE IN THE MISS U.S.A. PAGEANT.

Whereas, Nicole Lewis has dedicated her professional and personal life to helping those in need, and
Whereas, she is an enthusiastic volunteer for several worthy endeavors, including the Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports program which teaches emotionally and physically challenged youngsters the joys of skiing and instills in them a special sense of accomplishment, and
Whereas, in her studies at the University of Vermont and the College for Lifelong Learning in Lebanon, N.H., Nicole is pursuing a career in special education in which she will be an inspiration to children who need devoted teachers, and
Whereas, as a prelude to becoming a teacher, she is employed in the Newport, New Hampshire public school system, and
Whereas, before settling into her professional life, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming Miss Vermont in the Miss U.S.A. Pageant, and
Whereas, this well spoken and talented young woman so impressed the judges with her poise, personality and intelligence that she was crowned Miss Vermont, and
Whereas, during her reign as Miss Vermont, Nicole will be a very visible spokesperson for the fight to find a cure for ovarian cancer, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly is pleased to congratulate Nicole Lewis on being named Miss Vermont in the 1999 Miss U.S.A. competition, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Nicole Lewis.
