Whereas, Charles "Frank" Bizzarro was a native of Rutland and lifelong Vermont resident, and

Whereas, after graduating from Castleton State College in 1957, he embarked on a four-decade career as a social studies educator, teaching at several secondary institutions, including Bennington Catholic High School, Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland, Brattleboro Union High School, Lake Region Union High School and North Country Union High School in Newport, from which he retired in 1997, and

Whereas, in addition to his academic duties, Frank Bizzarro was one of the most successful interscholastic basketball coaches to ever send a squad onto the hardwood floor, and

Whereas, he had the unique distinction of having guided five different Division I schools to the Vermont "Final Four" basketball tournament at which his teams twice won the state championship title, and

Whereas, in recognition of his outstanding coaching skills, in 1965, Frank Bizzarro was selected as the Vermont Coach of the Year, and

Whereas, in 1980, he was the victorious coach of the first Vermont team to ever play at the Alhambra Games, and

Whereas, Frank Bizzarro was an extraordinary teacher and coach whose dedication to the young people under his charge, whether in the classroom or on the basketball court, was truly inspirational, and

Whereas, he served as an exemplary model of the ideal teacher, and

Whereas, in 1994, he was most-deservedly inducted into the Castleton State College Athletic Hall of Fame, and

Whereas, his wife, Kathryn, his son, Charles Jr., daughters, Margaret and Elaine, and his grandchildren, brother and sisters will all miss his wonderful presence, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends its sympathy to the family of Charles F. Bizzarro on the occasion of his passing, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Kathryn Bizzarro in Newport.
