Whereas, Camels Hump Middle School (CHMS) has participated in the Odyssey of the Mind competition since the program's inception in Vermont nineteen years ago, and

Whereas, Odyssey of the Mind is a voluntary extracurricular program that requires the participating students to work in teams, be creative, learn to think quickly and exhibit good communication skills, and

Whereas, the parents, coaches and CHMS staff provide the Odyssey of the Mind teams' members crucial logistical support and emotional encouragement, and

Whereas, the teams' successes can be attributed in part to the energy and committed leadership of CHMS art teacher, Mary Ann Horton and the much appreciated flexibility of the school's night custodians, Bill Keefe and Rogene Siple, and

Whereas, winning an Odyssey of the Mind competition requires months of practice and preparation on an assigned problem, as well as developing the skill to respond spontaneously as a team to new challenges presented at the competition, and

Whereas, in preparing their solution to the assigned problem, the CHMS students wrote a poem that narrated the story of a man's life, composed a song that guitarist, Elden Kelly and pianist, Wesley Ruelle beautifully performed and choreographed the birth of a fire to reflect the story told in the poem, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates CHMS for its historic and continuing support for the Odyssey of the Mind program, coaches, Neidi Suursoo and Nancy Stoddard, especially team members, Wesley Ruelle, Duncan Martin, William Stoddard, Kellen McClure, Tyler Andrews, Elden Kelly and Gregory Pearson who were awarded first place in the Create and Animate Division II Competition at the Odyssey of the Mind World Championship held at Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida and the Ranatra Fusca award for exceptional creativity, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Camel's Hump Middle School principal, Bob Goodrow.
