State Police; Promotions
This act revises the promotional process for state police members, reduces the emphasis on standardized testing, increases the opportunity for members to receive interviews, and gives greater latitude to the Commissioner of Public Safety in managerial promotions. This act also requires that one member of the State Police
Advisory Commission be a retired state police officer and that the Governor appoint such a person for the next available appointment. Furthermore, this act requires the Department of Public Safety to file a detailed report concerning the consolidation of State Police 24-hour dispatching centers.
