Data Collection; Vermont Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing;

General State Support Grant

This act clarifies and establishes that state aid for exceptional special education expenditures may be paid for certain students in a program operated by the Vermont Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; that no school district shall receive a general state support grant which is more than its local education spending amount; that the Commissioner of Education shall recommend a general state support grant amount each December 15; that data used to determine financial aid is to be reported in a uniform fashion; that each superintendent is to report the local education budget for the supervisory union member districts; and that following reporting deadlines, if a school district has made a clerical error in reporting data used to determine financial aid, adjustments will be made in aid for the next school year, but that a change in data due to new information will be carried forward into the next year’s school budget.

Effective Date: May 10, 2000, except that provisions relating to state aid for deaf and hard of hearing students shall take effect for school year 1999-2000.
