Whereas, Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) is a debilitating illness that strikes hundreds of Vermonters and hundreds of thousands of American adults and children, and
Whereas, it is imperative that health professionals and the public are educated and trained about CFIDS, and
Whereas, research is being done at many institutions, including the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institutes of Health, and other private institutions, yet further research is needed to conquer CFIDS and related disorders, and
Whereas, Governor Howard Dean, M.D., has joined with the Vermont CFIDS Association and the CFIDS Association of America in proclaiming Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome Awareness Day, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly supports the Governor in his proclamation of Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome Awareness Day, on May 12, 1997, and be it further
Resolved: That the General Assembly encourages further research and education about CFIDS both at the state and national level to end the effects of this disabling illness.
