NO. R-88. JOINT RESOLUTION RELATING TO CONGRATULATING THE ESSEX HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIP GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM.

Whereas, the Essex High School Hornets Girls Basketball Team has compiled an impressive history of athletic proficiency on the hardwood floor, having lost only three games during the last three seasons, and
Whereas, these dedicated young women once again defied the mathematical odds and captured their fourth consecutive Division I championship title, and
Whereas, this series of championship titles is unique and deserving of very special commendation and recognition, and
Whereas, this commendable accomplishment resulted from the excellent basketball skills that were exhibited throughout the season by all the Hornets, including Lauren Mongeon, Nicole Chalmers, Lindsay Bohlen, Elaina Coutrayer, Erin Malone, Libby Smith, Maggie Triggs, Jamie Librizzi, Kelly Librizzi, Kathryn Clark, Jessica Doll, Abby Yeager, Christina Papaseraphim and Meghan Pollard, and
Whereas, the Hornets head coach Jean Robinson, with the able assistance of coaches Jeff Chalmers and Joe Gonillo, as well as student manager Amanda Horton, has once again shown that their inspired leadership of young athletes is a model for all interscholastic coaches, and
Whereas, the vitality and excitement of womens athletic competition is ably demonstrated by the Essex Girls Basketball Team, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the outstanding young athletes of the Essex Girls Basketball Team, and be it further
Resolved: That the Clerk of the House be directed to prepare copies of this resolution for presentation at the Essex High School Sports Awards Banquet to be held on April 8, 1997.
