NO. R-77. JOINT RESOLUTION RELATING TO CONGRATULATING GREGORY MCCLALLEN ON BEING NAMED A 1997 NATIONAL FEDERATION INTERSCHOLASTIC COACHES ASSOCIATION COACH OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, coaching young Vermonters in their sporting competitions can be a most personally satisfying pursuit, and
Whereas, as educators, high school coaches have the special opportunity to develop their students athletic skills and values of fair play on the field and court as an essential complement to their intellectual development in the classroom, and
Whereas, Greg McClallen has striven for over three decades to exemplify the highest attributes of teaching and coaching as a member of the Rutland High School faculty, and
Whereas, he has excelled as an advisor to young athletes in several sports, including skiing, track and field and cross country, and
Whereas, Greg McClallen has proudly led his teams to nearly 50 district and regional championships in different sports, and
Whereas, his amazing record of achievement has been matched by few, if any other, coaches in the history of interscholastic sports in Vermont, and
Whereas, in recognition of his outstanding career accomplishments as a successful and inspiring coach, the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Association has selected Greg McClallen as its 1997 Coach of the Year in the at-large category, and
Whereas, his history of inspired coaching at Rutland High School truly merits this significant honor, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Greg McClallen on being selected as a NFICA Coach of the Year, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Greg McClallen at Rutland High School.
