NO. R-68. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE FAIR HAVEN UNION HIGH SCHOOL SLATERS DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM.

Whereas, when the top seeded Fair Haven Union High School Slaters Boys Basketball Team earned its place on the Division II championship court, the players anticipated a challenging encounter against their formidable opponent, the U-32 High School Raiders, and
Whereas, the high caliber of play throughout this title game was readily apparent when with only 5 minutes and 38 seconds remaining in the final quarter, the score was tied at 37, and
Whereas, with these few precious minutes left in regulation playing time, the Fair Haven Slaters ignited an offensive explosion that was led by forward Chris Coloutti whose down court dunk, and immediately subsequent three-point play, were part of his 21-point game total and provided the Slaters with a 5-point margin that was never surpassed, and
Whereas, other significant contributors to the Slaters ultimately victorious 60-48 basketball outing included Todd Roberts and Dan Richards who each scored 10 critical points and Adam Perry who added 7 pivotal points to the tally, and
Whereas, this exciting evening of interscholastic basketball capped a fantastic season for all of the basketball Slaters, including Derrick Many, Nate Scott, Chad Serpico, Jeremiah Regimbald, Eric Bruno, Chris Schaffer, Dave Vadnais and Trevor LaPine who compiled a final tally of 22 victories and only two defeats, and
Whereas, coach Bob Prenevost deserves much of the credit for his skillful leadership and guidance that was a fundamental component of the Slaters victory,
now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the players of the Fair Haven Union High School Slaters Boys Basketball Team on winning the 1996-1997 Division II championship, and be it further
Resolved: That the Clerk of the House be directed to prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the team at Fair Haven Union High Schools spring sports banquet.
