NO. R-64. JOINT RESOLUTION RELATING TO AGRICULTURE DAY IN VERMONT.

Whereas, Vermonters have historically relied on the land for their livelihoods, and
Whereas, food production remains an important source of income for the state, and
Whereas, dairy products, vegetables, fruits and maple sugar represent an essential component of Vermont's agricultural history and future, and
Whereas, Vermont's agricultural products are recognized both in the United States and abroad as representing a special quality which is not duplicated elsewhere, and
Whereas, Vermonters are uniquely proud to pass on family harvesting traditions from one generation to the next, and
Whereas, Vermonters have brought forth a great bounty from the land while preserving its natural character, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly salutes the achievements and contributions of all Vermonters whose dedicated labors continue to sustain both local residents and many consumers far beyond the Green Mountains' valleys, and be it further
Resolved: That March 20, 1997, be declared by this General Assembly as Agriculture Day in Vermont.
