Whereas, the Mt. Abraham Girls’ Basketball Eagles commenced their 1996-1997 hoop campaign determined to capture the Division II title that they nearly won during their prior season, and

Whereas, throughout the season, the Eagles continued to impress their fans with their precision shooting and on-court dependability, deservedly compiling an impressive 22-1 record as they embarked on the Division II championship game against their very formidable opponents, the Bellows Falls Terriers, and

Whereas, in the course of the championship game at Barre Auditorium, the Eagles executed an exciting offensive playing strategy that proved impossible to sidetrack, and

Whereas, the Eagles’ stupendous performance was led by the Eagles’ powerful center, Rachel Bryan, who led her teammates with 26 points, stunningly posting 22 of them during a riveting first half, and

Whereas, significant contributions to the winning cause were made by Eagles teammates Carolynne Erwin, whose defensive play as a point guard amazed her opponents and who offensively added 18 points to the tally, Casey Wedge who earned 14 points and Koran Casey whose efforts added another 10 points to the final Eagles’ 78-54 victory, and

Whereas, the impressive showing of these young women, including Chrissy Barsalou, Brook Brisson, Kari Bouzier, Jesse Bent, Catlin Corkins and Amber Geradziel, on the basketball court was enhanced by the expert guidance of coach Connie Larose, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the Mt. Abraham High School Girls’ Basketball Eagles on the occasion of their Division II championship victory, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to coach Connie Larose at Mt. Abraham High School.
