NO. R-39. JOINT RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF FLOYD C. BIRCHMORE.

Whereas, Floyd C. Birchmore proudly tilled the soil of his family’s West Addison farm since he was a small boy, and

Whereas, for 27 years he unselfishly volunteered his time as a dedicated member of the Addison Volunteer Fire Department, and

Whereas, in recognition of Floyd C. Birchmore’s outstanding contribution to the operation of the Addison Fire Department, in 1990 he was honored as the Firefighter of the Year, and

Whereas, he was a longtime member of the Addison County Eagles, and

Whereas, his farm was rightfully known as a friendly gathering place for friends and neighbors, and

Whereas, Floyd C. Birchmore was deeply devoted to his adoring family, including his wife Grace, his son Tim, his daughters Tammy, Missy and Lisa and their spouses, and

Whereas, he took special delight in his 11 grandchildren, and

Whereas, the citizens of West Addison were deeply saddened to learn of Floyd C. Birchmore’s unexpected death while he was heroically attempting to contain a fire on his farm, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends its deepest sympathy to the family of

Floyd C. Birchmore whose life brought so much warmth and affection to his community, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to

his wife, Grace Birchmore.
