NO. R-31. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE 1995-1996 MONTPELIER HIGH SCHOOL VERMONT NEA (NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION) SCHOLARS BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.
Offered by:Representatives Brooks of Montpelier, Kitzmiller of Montpelier, Scribner of Middlesex and Pembroke of Bennington.
Whereas, ever since a Montpelier High School Scholars Bowl team first entered the competitive arena a decade ago, the Solons have repeatedly soared to the playoff phase of this annual competition, and
Whereas, team members, Steve Blais, Lisa Buchanan, Kirsten Hall, Nathan Hall, Matt Johnson, Charles King and Adam Triplett, diligently strove to prove their mastery of the diverse topics and need for instant recall that are the epitome of this academic sport, and
Whereas, the scholarly Solons were especially well prepared for the televised and grueling final day of competition defeating two excellent teams and as a result being declared the state champions of the 1996 Vermont-NEA Scholars Bowl competition, and
Whereas, as state champions, the team won the right to participate in the Panasonic National Academic Challenge in Florida where the Solons performed impressively, and
Whereas, they reached these new scholarly heights under the expert guidance of coach Don Frazier, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly is pleased to congratulate the outstanding Montpelier High School students who captured the 1996 Vermont-NEA Scholars Bowl championship, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Don Frazier at Montpelier High School.
