Whereas, the Burlington Police Department has become only the second Vermont law enforcement agency to achieve Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation, and

Whereas, this prestigious recognition culminates two years of intensive internal and external activity, and

Whereas, the officers and staff of the Burlington Police Department have demonstrated that they are highly trained, thoroughly professional, extremely proficient in the performance of their duties, very respected in their community and responsible and responsive public servants, and

Whereas, all 21 CALEA Commissioners voted unanimously to extend accreditation to the Burlington Police Department, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends its congratulations and warm wishes to the Burlington Police Department, and Chief Kevin Scully, for being awarded this coveted designation, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Chief Kevin Scully and Burlington Mayor, Peter Clavelle.
