NO. R-194. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING CHRIS TROCKEL ON WINNING THE 1998 STATE WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE 119-POUND CLASS.

Whereas, Chris Trockel had been a champion interscholastic wrestler in Washington State before recently moving with his family to Canaan, Vermont, and
Whereas, while the small Canaan High School is bereft of a team, Chris was determined to continue pursuing his passionate participation as a competitive wrestler, and
Whereas, with the generous logistical assistance of his family, he entered competitions both in Vermont and throughout New England, and
Whereas, he placed first in his 119-pound class at wrestling tournaments at Mt. Mansfield High School, St. Johnsbury, Bow, New Hampshire and at the North Country Tournament where he was also voted as that tournament's outstanding wrestler, and
Whereas, despite an injury that forced him to withdraw after the first two matches, he still achieved a very respectable sixth-place finish at the New England Championships, and
Whereas, after compiling this impressive list of wrestling victories, on February 28 at the Barre Auditorium, Chris triumphantly concluded the season by capturing the state championship in the 119-pound class, and
Whereas, his consistently outstanding performance throughout the interscholastic wrestling season is an impressive accomplishment, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly is pleased to congratulate Chris Trockel on winning the 1998 state wrestling championship in the 119-pound class and for his superb record of victories throughout the 1997-1998 season, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Chris Trockel at Canaan High School.
