NO. R-191. JOINT RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF VICKIE BUNNELL.

Whereas, Vickie Bunnell spent her childhood in Canaan, Vermont, and graduated from Canaan High School, Plymouth State College, Plymouth, New Hampshire, and the University of Puget Sound Law School in Tacoma, Washington, where she received her law degree with honors, and

Whereas, she returned home to work with Attorney Phil Waystack of Colebrook, New Hampshire, and

Whereas, she hung out her own shingle in Colebrook, quietly establishing a practice dedicated to cases involving child custody, adoption, family abuse, sexual abuse, and victims' rights, and

Whereas, she served two terms as Selectwoman of the Town of Columbia, New Hampshire and served on many community service boards and committees, and

Whereas, in 1995 she was appointed as the first woman associate judge to the Colebrook District Court by then Governor Steve Merrill, and

Whereas, she was a dedicated and caring judge whose service to the law and her community were marked by integrity, intelligence and courage, and

Whereas, the loss of Vickie Bunnell is immeasurable and she will be remembered for her friendship and her love and appreciation of the great outdoors, as well as for her dedication to the legal profession, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly extends its condolences to the family of Judge Vickie Bunnell, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bunnell of Canaan, Vermont.
