NO. R-169. JOINT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING EMMA MULVANEY-STANAK ON THE OCCASION OF BEING NAMED PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD WINNER.

Whereas, a special place for teenagers to exchange ideas, meet new friends and have an opportunity to engage in constructive activities is a valuable resource for any community, and
Whereas, unfortunately far too many cities and towns lack this important local asset, and
Whereas, recognizing that the viability of a teen center is dependent in large part on young and energetic volunteers, Spaulding High School student Emma Mulvaney-Stanak has shown great initiative in serving for the past three years as a regular volunteer at a Barre area teen center, and
Whereas, the lives of many teenagers in Barre City and Barre Town have been improved due to the efforts of Emma and similarly motivated student volunteers, and
Whereas, in recognition of the special dedication and commitment that Emma has devoted to this most worthy endeavor, she has been selected as a Vermont recipient of a 1998 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, and
Whereas, her volunteer efforts serve as an outstanding inspiration for young persons in Vermont, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly is pleased to extend its congratulations to Emma Mulvaney-Stanak on her being named a 1998 Prudential Spirit of Community Award winner, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Emma Mulvaney-Stanak.
