ACT NO. 127

(S.248)

Teachers; Probation

This act establishes that a person who has been employed as a teacher in Vermont for less than two years is considered probationary. The school board may decide not to renew a probationary teacher's contract for any valid reason provided the teacher has received two written performance evaluations per year. Teachers first employed during the 1997-98 school year are not subject to this act and may only be removed for just and sufficient cause.

Effective Date: July 1, 1998
