ACT NO. 122


Enforcement of Civil Ordinances; Civil Contempt; Identification; Detention

This act provides that a person may be held in civil contempt by the district court for nonpayment of a municipal civil ordinance penalty.

This act also provides that a law enforcement officer who has reasonable grounds to believe a person has violated a municipal ordinance may detain a person who refuses to identify himself or herself and may take the person before a district court judge. If the person does not identify himself or herself the court may hold the person in civil contempt.
