ACT NO. 33
Juveniles; Delinquency; Youthful Offenders
This act adopts a statement of purpose and responsibility for the department of social andrehabilitation services, which is to develop and administer a comprehensive program for children who commit delinquent acts.
This act authorizes the commissioner of social and rehabilitation services to enter into contracts with community-based agencies to provide juvenile probation services.
This act requires the secretary of the agency of human services to create on or before July 1, 1997, the position of youthful offender coordinator and recruit and employ a person to fill that position.
This act also extends the youthful offender system study committee for another year and authorizes six meetings.
