Guiding Principles

Community based programs that collaborate with local school districts, and receive education funds will positively impact:

Accessibility

·                    By opening their program to all who qualify by age and as space allows.

·                    By expanding capacity as needed when funds allow.

·                    By collaborating with local school districts to provide early education in full day, full year programs to provide a seamless experience for children. This should include EEE, Baird, and subsidy eligible children.

Affordability

·                  By using education funds to reduce the financial burden the high cost of early education places on parents of young children.

·                  By using education funds to expand or develop scholarship programs.

Quality

·                    By making a conscious effort to raise standards and quality through staff training, program accreditation, teacher licensure, and developmentally appropriate assessments.

·                    By working with partner programs to share in-service trainings and support for innovative approaches to early education.

·                    By using funds to positively impact wages and benefits of qualified teachers and staff to encourage a consistent, highly trained workforce.
