A biography of Calvin Coolidge- gives the flavor of what it was like to grow up in VT at the end of the end of the 19th century. The information and visuals are kid accessible. Best for 3rd-6th grade.

A documentary of the 1992 flood in Montpelier- good visuals of a natural disaster and how towns’ people dealt with it. It would be most interesting if the kids got a look at the town the day they visited to compare the Now and Then they would see in the video. Good for 3rd-middle school.

A video of a tour of the State House, featuring an 8th grade Page, the Curator at the State House, and the Sgt at Arms. This video makes students aware of the Page Program for 8th graders and reiterates what they will learn on the tour in a clear and concise way. Good for students in middle school.

People's Guide to the Vermont Legislature -an excellent depiction of how our state government works, filmed in the State House, appropriate for 5/6 and up.

A Visit to Vermont ’s Supreme Court- this is a video of an actual school group participating in the role-playing program offered by the Supreme Court. If you are teaching the judiciary system and can’t get booked to be in the Court chambers, this is a good substitute. Students will learn the differences between Trial Court and Supreme Court, how arguments are made by attorneys, and the importance of ruling on issues of law. Appropriate 5/6 and up.
