Whereas, the history of the Vietnam Veterans of America organization is a story of Americaís gradual recognition of the tremendous sacrifices of its Vietnam-era veterans and their families, and

Whereas, Vietnam Veterans of America is dedicated to serving its members through diligent and informed professional advocacy, claims work, and volunteerism on their behalf, and

Whereas, this outstanding organization informs both members and the general public about critical issues affecting Vietnam-era veterans and their families, and

Whereas, the grassroots efforts of local Vietnam Veterans of America chapters such as Chapter One in Rutland, Vermont, founded 23 years ago, have greatly contributed to the quality of veteransí lives, and

Whereas, the future of Vietnam Veterans of America relies on both the organizationís past and future accomplishments, and

Whereas, the year 2003 marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam Veterans of America, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Vietnam Veterans of America as it commemorates 25 years of outstanding service on behalf of Vietnam Veterans, both in Vermont and nationwide, and encourages the organization to continue its professional advocacy, case work assistance, and volunteer activities on behalf of Vermontís and the nationís Vietnam veterans, and be it further

Resolved:† That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Vermont State Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
