Whereas, Vermont Federal Credit Union is an integral member of the financial services community, and

Whereas, the cooperative nature of the credit union is reinforced by its guidance by a purely volunteer board of directors and committees elected from all of its membership, and

Whereas, the credit union provides needed financial services to over 20,000 Vermont consumers in six counties, and

Whereas, the credit union actively supports the communities in which it does business through involvement in the March of Dimes, United Way, Vermont Special Olympics, and American Cancer Society, and

Whereas, the credit union contributed over $100,000.00 to community involvement projects over a three‑year period, and

Whereas, the credit union makes available a broad range of financial services to its membership, and

Whereas, the credit unionís delivery of highly economical financial services to its 20,000 members helps to contribute to a more competitive financial services environment, ultimately benefiting Vermontís consumer, and

Whereas, on May 11, 2003, Vermont Federal Credit Union celebrates its 50th anniversary of improving the financial well‑being of many Vermonters, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly is pleased to honor Vermont Federal Credit Union for its valued and varied contributions to Vermont communities and consumers, and be it further

Resolved:† That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the board of directors of Vermont Federal Credit Union and to Joseph M. Finnigan, its president and chief executive officer.
