NO. R-101.  Senate concurrent resolution honoring Matthew L. Corey of Troop #116 in West Rutland on becoming an Eagle Scout.

Offered by:  Senator Bloomer of Rutland County, Senator Maynard of Rutland County and Senator Mullin of Rutland County.

Whereas, scouting is a movement that challenges, inspires, and guides young men toward high achievements and high values as expressed in the Scout oath, law, motto, and slogan, and

Whereas, the rank of Eagle is the highest rank in Boy Scouting, and

Whereas, attainment of Eagle rank requires mastery of difficult challenges in diverse areas, and

Whereas, an Eagle Scout must demonstrate good character and community service, and

Whereas, completing the many prerequisites for becoming an Eagle Scout is a difficult achievement and demonstrates the courage and tenacity to pursue a goal over a long period of time, and

Whereas, an Eagle Scout has earned an honor that will dignify him for the rest of his life, and

Whereas, only a minority of scouts achieves Eagle status, and

Whereas, Matthew Corey of West Rutland has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and

Whereas, Matthew will be presented his Eagle Scout award at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony to be held in West Rutland on April 27, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Matthew L. Corey of West Rutland for his special achievement of earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and be it further

Resolved:  That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Matthew Corey in West Rutland.
