Whereas, high school wrestling is a sport requiring mental concentration, physical agility, and precise maneuvers, and

Whereas, each year, interscholastic wrestlers in Vermont compete in their individual weight classes, and as members of their school teams, at tournaments across the state, and

Whereas, one of the premier wrestlers in Vermont is senior Chaz Barberi who competes in the 189‑pound class, and

Whereas, as a Spaulding High School wrestler, he has compiled an impressive 125-28 record, and most noteworthy, during the 2002-2003 season, he was undefeated, earning a personal tally of 44-0, and

Whereas, his string of regular season tournament victories included the North South Duals in Barre; the Essex Classic, one of the largest high school wrestling competitions in the region; the Early Bird; the Invitationals at North Country Union High School; the Mt. Mansfield Tourney, the Peru Tournament in New York State, where he was awarded special recognition for his quickness on the wrestling mat; and the NVAC Tournament, and

Whereas, all of these outstanding victories served as a prelude to his performance at the 2003 state high school wrestling championship tournament where he won first place in the 189‑pound class, and

Whereas, in recognition of his outstanding championship tournament performance, the coaches awarded him the outstanding wrestler award, and

Whereas, he is a multitalented athlete who has won a coveted place on the 2003 Vermont Shrine Game football team, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Chaz Barberi on his outstanding high school wrestling accomplishments, including his undefeated 2002-2003 season and winning the Vermont 189‑pound championship, and be it further

Resolved:  That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Chaz Barberi at Spaulding High School.
