†††† Whereas, family physicians serve as the cornerstone of our health care system, and

†††† Whereas, they have the most comprehensive knowledge of an individualís medical history and are the medical professionals most relied upon when a patient is making critical health care decisions, and

†††† Whereas, one way the American Academy of Family Physicians seeks to promote excellence in its field is through the organizationís state chapters honoring outstanding local members who can serve as role models for their colleagues, and

†††† Whereas, in 2002, the organizationís Vermont chapter was pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Barbara Dalton as Family Physician of the Year, and

†††† Whereas, Dr. Dalton graduated from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York and has been a practicing physician since 1989, and

†††† Whereas, her staff at Springfieldís Partners in Family Medicine, which she operates with Dr. Yolanda Lawrence, cites her compassion, hard work, and dedication to families, and

†††† Whereas, her patients comment that Dr. Dalton really listens to their concerns and does not merely hear their words, and

†††† Whereas, she has a wonderful bedside manner and prides herself on staying current with the latest medical advances, and

†††† Whereas, at the Springfield Hospitalís ChildBirth Center, she has a reputation of practicing medicine from the heart, and

†††† Whereas, Dr. Dalton is a superb and deserving honoree for this award, now therefore be it

†††† Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

†††† That the General Assembly congratulates Dr. Barbara J. Dalton of Springfield on her selection as the Vermont Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physiciansí 2002 Family Physician of the Year, and be it further

†††† Resolved:† That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Dr. Barbara Dalton in Springfield.
