NO. M-3.  AN ACT CREATING AN OFFICE OF VILLAGE CONSTABLE IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH TROY.

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  CHARTER APPROVAL

The Village of North Troy charter is amended as provided in this act.  Proposals of amendment were approved by the voters on October 16, 2002.

Sec. 2.  No. 190 of the Acts of the 1876 Session, as amended by No. 323 of the Acts of the 1912 Session, as further amended by No. 303 of the Acts of the 1915 Session, as further amended by No. 255 of the Acts of the 1935 Session, is amended by adding a new Sec. 19 to read:

Sec. 19.  An office of village constable is established in the Village of North Troy.  The village constable shall be appointed by the village trustees and serve at the pleasure of the trustees.  The village constable shall, if he or she has completed the training requirements for a full-time or part-time law enforcement officer under section 2358 of Title 20, have the authority to enforce any village ordinance.
