Court Procedure; Assistant Judges Hearing Cases in Small Claims Court; Permanent Guardianships for Minors; Magistrates Hearing Cases Involving Parent-Child Contact Orders
This act continues the jurisdictional authority of assistant judges to preside over cases in small claims court until July 1, 2005, and establishes a committee to study the jurisdiction and duties of assistant judges. The act also removes the sunsets on the ability of family courts to establish permanent guardianships for minors and on the authority of magistrates to preside over proceedings to modify or enforce parent-child contact orders in family court.
