ACT NO. 47
Motor Vehicles; Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer
This act increases the penalty for persons convicted of attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, expands the offense to include persons who leave the vehicle and attempt to elude the officer by other means, and makes the offense a felony when serious personal injury results. The act also permits a person charged with the offense to raise as
a defense that the person brought his or her vehicle to a stop in a manner, time, and distance that was reasonable under the circumstances.
