Executive Branch; State Employees; Retirement Board
This act: (1) includes a vocational rehabilitation counselor in the decision-making process of approving or disapproving disability retirement; (2) clarifies that individuals from the VSEA or VRSEA who fill vacancies on the retirement board have voting rights; (3) raises the quorum number for the retirement board from four to five; (4) clarifies that the commissioner of finance and management may have a designee attend a meeting or meetings of the retirement board in the commissioners place; and (5) establishes a process for requesting and holding an evidentiary hearing if an applicant for disability retirement benefits is denied.
