Message from the House

A message was received from the House of Representatives by Mr. Palmisano, its First Assistant Clerk, as follows:

Mr. President:

I am directed to inform the Senate the House has adopted Joint Resolutions of the following titles:

J.R.H. 2. Joint resolution in memory of Victor Borge.

J.R.H. 3. Joint resolution in memory of Thomas C. Ryan.

J.R.H. 5. Joint resolution designating July 8, 2002, as Windham County Meeting House Day.

I am directed to inform the Senate the House has considered a Joint Resolution originating in the Senate of the following title:

J.R.S. 5. Joint resolution relating to weekend adjournment

And has adopted the same in concurrence.

Senate Resolution Adopted

Senate resolution of the following title was offered, read and adopted, and is as follows:

S.R. 4. Senate resolution relating to the establishment of a committee on reapportionment.

RESOLVED BY THE SENATE:

That the Senate Rules be amended by adopting new temporary Rule 24.1 and by amending temporarily existing Rule 24, as follows:

First: By adding a new section 24.1, to read as follows:

24.1 A committee on reapportionment shall be appointed, consisting of seven members, no more than four of which shall be of the majority party, and no more than three of which shall be of the minority party.

Second: By amending section 24, sixth paragraph, by striking out the words "municipal corporations; and reapportionment" and inserting in lieu thereof the words and municipal corporations

This amendment to the Senate Rules is temporary and shall expire upon final adjournment of the biennial session of 2001.
