Subject: Conservation; air pollution control; waterstoves; placarding requirements
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require that each outdoor waterstove displayed for retail sale in the state shall bear a placard that informs the public that installation of the stove is subject to air pollution control regulations, and that use of the unit may not be appropriate in some areas, due to terrain and other characteristics that could render it a nuisance or a health hazard.
AN ACT RELATING TO PLACARDING REQUIREMENTS UPON THE RETAIL SALE OF OUTDOOR WATERSTOVES
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 10 V.S.A. § 577 is added to read:
§ 577. WATERSTOVE NOTICE REQUIREMENT
Each outdoor waterstove displayed for retail sale or advertising purposes shall bear an 8-inch by 11-inch placard that reads as follows: "INSTALLATION OF THIS UNIT IS SUBJECT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE VERMONT AIR POLLUTION CONTROL REGULATIONS. USE OF THIS UNIT IS NOT APPROPRIATE INSOME AREAS DUE TO TERRAIN AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS THAT COULD RENDER ITS OPERATION TO BE A NUISANCE OR HEALTH HAZARD IN ACCORDANCE WITH VERMONT LAW."
