NO. R-71. JOINT RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE REBEKAH EMERALD LODGE NUMBER 33 IN WATERBURY.

Offered by:Senator Doyle of Washington County, Senator Krauss of Washington County and Senator Spaulding. of Washington County.

Whereas, the Rebekah Lodges serve as the women's auxiliary to the Odd Fellows, and

Whereas, the members of the Rebekah Lodges are engaged in many worthy charitable activities that benefit those in need of special services and assistance, and

Whereas, these endeavors, which the Rebekah Lodges cosponsor with the Odd Fellows, nationally include the Arthritis Foundation, and both youth and adult eye-banks, and

Whereas, the Rebekahs have historically given particular attention to the problems that orphans and widows encounter, and

Whereas, in Vermont the Rebekah Lodges and Odd Fellows jointly support the Gill Odd Fellows Home, a 24-unit level two nursing facility in Ludlow, and

Whereas, the history of the Rebekahs coincides with most of the time that Vermont has been a state, and

Whereas, in 1995, Rebekah Emerald Lodge Number 33, located in Waterbury, is observing the 100th anniversary of its establishment and community service activities, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the Rebekah Emerald Lodge Number 33 for a century of unselfish devotion to the needs of the less fortunate, and be it further

Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Mrs. Eloise Thurston, Secretary of the Rebekah Emerald Lodge Number 33.
